The university's Green Campus 2030 initiative has been recognized with the National Sustainability Excellence Award for its comprehensive approach to reducing carbon emissions.
Key achievements include a 40% reduction in campus carbon emissions since 2020, installation of solar panels generating 2.5 megawatts of clean energy, and the elimination of single-use plastics across all dining facilities. The campus composting program now diverts 85% of food waste from landfills.
Student-led projects were highlighted as a driving force behind the initiative's success. The Green Ambassadors program, which trains students to lead sustainability workshops in residence halls, has engaged over 3,000 participants this academic year.
"Sustainability is not just a policy — it's a culture we've built together," said the Director of Campus Operations.
