A new partnership between the university and 15 local secondary schools will bring hands-on STEM education to over 2,000 students in underserved communities.
The program, funded by a $3.2 million grant, provides laboratory equipment, mentoring, and summer research opportunities. University students and faculty will visit partner schools weekly to deliver interactive workshops in coding, robotics, chemistry, and environmental science.
A dedicated summer camp will offer 200 places for students to spend two weeks on campus working on real research projects alongside graduate students.
The initiative aims to increase diversity in STEM fields by inspiring young people who might not otherwise consider science or engineering careers. Early feedback from pilot sessions has been overwhelmingly positive.
