Alumni Donor Funds New Scholarship Program

A generous alumni donation will fund a new scholarship program supporting first-generation college students for the next decade.

The university has received a $5 million donation from alumnus James Rodriguez, class of 1985, to establish the Rodriguez Scholars Program. The fund will provide full-tuition scholarships to 50 first-generation college students each year.

Recipients will also receive mentoring, career counseling, and summer internship placements. The program launches in the fall semester.

"Education changed my life, and I want to give others the same opportunity," said Rodriguez at the announcement ceremony. "Every student deserves a chance to succeed regardless of their background."
